Rashrtiya Ekta Divas
It was on Friday 31st October,2014 that Nation
was celebrating Birth Anniversary of Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai
Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Divas. Born in a Gujarati Family, He played a pivotal
role in shaping the Modern Day India. Trying his best to merge all 562 princely
states into one was not an easy task when Britishers had already done their
best to divide India. Even the then PM of Britain Winston Churchill was of the
opinion that British should not leave India or it won’t take much time for the
territory to b divided into 500 small states and increase of instability in Sub
Continent would be disastrous. Churchill had also opined that in near future
there would only be violence in the Sub Continent and nothing else as there
would b constant friction in the territory. Even today there are many who years
back had said that the Idea of Unified India is foolish as a Nation with
diverse regions, language, colours, faiths, etc can never remain united. One or
the other day India had to divide. But all those ‘Bhavishyavanis’ miserably
failed. Except the partition of India n Pakistan that too the brain child of
The British no further division took place in India. Its been 68 years now and
not a single state is separate today. India remained intact. And this is a
matter of great surprise, excitement, curiosity and investigation for many
historians and political analysts. How did this happen? How Can this happen?
15th August 1947, India became an independent
nation. And Sardar Patel was one of its Founding Fathers. He was the first
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. He was a Congressman till his
death but also was an ardent follower of Hindutva in his personal life. After
British gave a proposal of making India free at the cost of partition ; Sardar
Patel had said, "I fully appreciate the fears of our brothers from [the
Muslim-majority areas]. Nobody likes the division of India and my heart is
heavy. But the choice is between one division and many divisions.’’ According
to the Plan of 3rd June 1947 , Britishers gave all the
562 princely states an option of either joining India or Pakistan. At that time
M.K.Gandhi entrusted Sardar Patel to look into this matter and make sure that
our Idea of Akhanda Bharat remains intact. This task was not at all going to b
a cakewalk. Most difficult were the princely states of Junagarh and Hyderabad.
But Sardar Patel yet again proved that He was a Master Strategist and He laid
the foundation of Modern Day Hindustan. This great leader rubbished the fears
that India will b divided into many and proclaimed
to the world by his actions that though India is a diverse land but it shares
same culture and same Dharma that binds the Indian society. This was overlooked
by all but Sardar Patel knew this and thus shaped India.
Not only Sardar Patel but there were many revolutionaries
who strived hard to get India Independence. Even after Independence, many
leaders ; in fact all 14 Prime Ministers and their council of ministers helped
shaping India in area of development. No doubt that Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira
Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi too contributed their bit towards the progress of India.
There may be many reservations on this. But fact remains these were the leaders
of a political party ( dynast party) who did something towards India. These
people have been given their due respect which they deserve. But there are some
who are forgotten to the core. Today’s history books are full of Pandit Nehru, M.K
Gandhi, Indira Gandhi etc but barely a paragraph is described about rest of the
revolutionary leaders Like Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh, Jayprakash Narayan ,
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, Lal Bahadur Shastri,
Dr.Savarkar, and many more to name. Some of whom I named are not even recognized
as Leaders who made India. Half of the country’s young don’t even know who they
were. But today my head hangs in shame when I see the same political party who
actually helped get India her independence, who only respected Nehru and
Gandhi, who never gave a thought about the contributions of other great Leaders
who contributed much more to India’s Freedom Struggle ; Today is playing petty
politics over the issue of celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Divas. Congress never
ever remembered Sardar Patel for his great contributions but today is scoring
yet another self goal by questioning the Prime Minister’s step to observe a ‘Run
For Unity’ programme just to remember the Iron Man of India which they did not
for past 60 years! Not only Congress but some authors and Congress sympathisers
too are indulging into the stupid blame game. Its Shameful.
What Congress alleged was the Prime Minister did not pay
respects to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the day she was assassinated.
Either they wilfully turned blind to the tweet by PMO and PM himself or they
played deaf to what Prime Minister said while addressing the crowd at Rajpath on
31st October. Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha tweeted saying that
PM has no originals to pay respect to as till now he has only highlighted
Congressman. But he forgets the fact that Congress is no more the Congress it
used to b 50 years back! Those Congressmen like Patel and Gandhi were totally
different from what Today’s Congressmen are. First they cried foul over
observing Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan on 2nd October Gandhi Jayanti. Why
was anything wrong to actually act on the principles of M.K.Gandhi rather than
only a photo op on Government advertisements? Just because these were Congressmen
does it make them their copyright? These were the Leaders of Nation because
they served their Nation and hence belong to the Nation and not to today’s
Congress Party. When Congress was in rule they never made the nation familiar
to those Leaders but when Prime Minister Modi who according to them is a non
secular, right wing leader actually commemorates their contributions by
celebrating it , Congress cries foul! And some Congress Sympathizers from India
Today Group write a blog saying Mr.Narendra Modi is trying to get into Sardar Patel’s
shoes! That Mr.Narendra Modi is playing politics as he knows he cannot be
Indira Gandhi as ‘Indira is India and India is Indira’ was her stature at that
time which Mr.Modi cannot achieve!
This writer dosen’t know what majority of the people think
about this but this writer opines that yes certainly Mr.Modi can never be
Indira. But he can be The Narendra Modi . And when they dare to say that
Mr.Modi is trying to be Sardar Patel let me say this with utter conviction that
the writer is totally wrong to compare two different leaders of different times.
Sardar Patel can b compare to absolutely no one. Not even Nehru. Each leader
has his own stature and comparing him with someone else shows your narrow-mindedness.
Neither can Patel be Nehru nor can Modi be Indira and nor can Modi b Patel.
This very comparison of Modi with National Leaders shows that they feel
insecure ‘what if he does better than Indira?’ What Indira did is known to the
world. Operation Blue Star, Emergency, Khalistan movement all happened under
her regime. Yes she did some good work too but this writer has her own
reservations on this. When she was killed she was declared a martyr. Again; she
did not died for her country. She died of the wrong policy she started. Assassination
of any PM of a Republic is highly condemnable and sad but she did not died
willingly for nation’s cause! It was exactly the same day that 1984 Sikh Riots
took place. Thousands were killed but till today none is punished. And the same
party when asked about 1984 Sikh riots starts blaming the Prime Minister for
2002. To their best of information the culprits of 2002 have been punished and
are in jail while the culprits of 1984 are still roaming free and not a single
is punished for the same cause. Sad but true.
If observed closely the problem with these people is not
Mr.Modi but the fact that someone who is not a Nehru , who’s not a Gandhi is
given so much of respect which today not even Gandhis’ are given! Its shameful that Congress and some historians
( so called, self proclaimed historians, included Congress sympathizers and
communists ) have taken objections to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of a
Leader because of whom we are today Proud to Be Indians and Proud to belong to
India. And those attacking Mr.Modi on Why only Congressmen let me remind them
that Dr.Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, Jayprakash Narayan, Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay,
Swami Vivekananda, Shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa, etc are some leaders who always are remembered by
him in his every speech as a part of his reaspect to the leaders.
Rest whether you call it politics or no politics , as a common
citizen of this country this writer is happy that the young who didn’t knew who
Sardar Patel was ; today are interested to know about him which may inspire
generations together. And yes Mr.Modi will also be remembered as the only Prime
Minister who made the Country familiar with National Heroes ( apart from Nehru
and Gandhi ). To all Modi baiters who call Modi supporters as ‘Bhakts’ i,e
devotees ( I doubt if they understand the meaning of devotion and by saying so
are disrespecting the mandate given by the people by ridiculing all of them who
voted for him) ‘Whether you Hate Mr.Modi or You Love Mr.Modi , U simply cannot
Ignore Mr.Modi....’
May My Country Remain United Forever as a Peace Loving
Nation...........Jai Hind!
